Gene Expressions: MET and Cancer

The Met pathway is critical to how our normal cells function. However, when MET signals get out of control, they could cause cancer.

Met is a protein on the surface of cells that tells them to grow, spread, and survive. Normally, this happens in the earliest stages of life or when our wounds are healing. But sometimes things go wrong and the Met pathway becomes active all the time, potentially causing cancer.

Genentech scientist Bob Yauch explains the role of the Met signaling pathway in cancer.
