Your Commute Just Became Easier

Getting to and from work shouldn't be stressful. Genentech's employee transportation program, gRide, provides you with flexible, convenient services and incentives designed to support you getting to and from work, without having to drive alone or even drive at all. Through gRide, you can save time and money by sharing a ride and using carpool lanes, avoid stress and traffic by using public transit, and earn gRide cash rewards - all while supporting the environment.

BART, Caltrain and Community GenenBuses

Free GenenBus services run between the South San Francisco campus and the Glen Park BART and the Millbrae Caltrain/BART stations during peak commute times. Direct GenenBus service to the South San Francisco campus is also offered from various communities throughout the East Bay and San Francisco.

gRide Rewards

If you work at the South San Francisco or Oceanside campuses, you can take advantage of alternative commute programs designed to reduce the number of cars parked on campus. gRide Rewards encourages participation in these programs by paying you $4 per day for not driving to work alone or $4 per passenger per day for the drivers of carpools and vanpools (up to $32 per day).

Pre-Tax Commute Program

This commuter program, provided by WageWorks, allows you to pay for qualified transit, vanpool and parking expenses with pre-tax payroll deductions. South San Francisco and Oceanside employees receive their first $120 for commuting free via a company subsidy.

Guaranteed Ride Home and Vanpools

If you commute to the South San Francisco or Oceanside campuses via carpool or public transit, you can get a taxi ride home if the need arises. You may also live in an area where you can take advantage of an existing vanpool or the gRide staff can assist you in setting up your own vanpool.
