The Position
Job Description
The Senior Business Systems Analyst position will work in Medical Communications and is primarily responsible for but not limited to the following;
- Analyzes business scenarios and identifies opportunities for improvement through automation and/or business process change
- Provides analytical expertise in identifying, evaluating, designing and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements
- Provides consultation to users in the area of business systems and processes
- Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts related to requirements, data, usability and process analysis
- Facilitate strategic initiatives in Medical Communications/US Medical Affairs, as well as business partners across Roche/Genentech
- Conduct ongoing feasibility studies and gap-analysis for improvements through automation and/or business process changes
- Assist business function areas in understanding strategic problems, opportunities, and the big picture for the functions to make informed decisions to support the business long-term
- Propose strategic recommendations for process improvements and streamlining across the organization
- Articulate and communicate project portfolios alignment with overall business strategies to management and key stakeholders
- Assist management to report business health (success/achievements or areas requiring focus)
- Liaise with IT to ensure accuracy and completeness in user requirements, functional requirements, technical specifications, process flow diagrams; may configure some system settings and/or options; also, partner with IT to drive implementation of technical solutions.
- Leads cross-functional analytical teams in the resolution of business or systems issues.
- Leads successful completion of major projects/programs across portfolios. Champions accountability by example
Who You Are
Qualifications:
8+ experience analyzing business requirements and support information systems projects
Demonstrated excellence in analysis, documentation, facilitation and presentation skills
Demonstrated success handling initiatives of high complexity and risk
Ability to grasp business requirements, business process, current systems functionality, and propose new requirements or process changes
Strong skills in performing detailed business analysis functions including development of business process models & functional documentation
Familiarity with the life science/pharmaceutical/healthcare industry
Possess strong oral communication and presentation skills
Strong technical writing and presentation development skills
Strong organization skills and project management experience, PMP a plus
Ability to work independently, under pressure, demonstrating initiative and flexibility through effective and innovative leadership ability
Experience working with business stakeholders and users, running business stakeholders/users/customers meetings and proactively develop recommendations.
Knowledge and understanding of health care providers and group practice dynamics
Strong consulting skills
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business administration, computer information systems (CIS/MIS), computer science, systems design, or equivalent field.
Plus: Post-graduate work in a related field
Territory: Upper Midwest (Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Indianapolis)
Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) at Genentech are field based and report into Medical Affairs by Therapeutic Area. MSLs are scientifically trained professionals with strong clinical and/or scientific backgrounds and must have excellent communication skills.
