The Position
We are seeking a Sr. Project Manager who will manage complex projects to successful and timely decision points from Late Stage Research through Proof of Concept. The Sr. Project Manager will actively contribute to the definition of project strategy and guide the project core and sub teams to deliver on project objectives. This position will be accountable for steering drug development teams through corporate processes. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Establish and maintain functionally integrated project schedules to enable accurate project, financial and portfolio analyses and ensure accurate inputs are provided into business planning processes; Ensures alignment with project sub-teams and functional partners
- Oversees and prepares project team budget including resources and costs collaborating with Finance and other cross-functional department
- Communicate, document, and archive project team activities and decisions; act as a primary contact for project team related information
- Facilitate project team meetings, cross-functional communication and decision making, ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholders
- Identifies, recommends and implements opportunities for streamlining or other efficiency/improvements for teams and business processes.
- Responsible for ensuring the team achieves and maintains a high-level of sustainable performance, by implementing appropriate team management best practices.
Who You Are
A BA or BS degree in the Life Sciences; advanced degree is desired. The ideal candidate will have greater than 8 years multi-disciplinary expert knowledge of the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, with in depth 4 - 8 years direct project management in drug development, and PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent a plus. At a minimum, the candidate is expected to demonstrate the following:
- Strong proficiency with project management practices, tools, and methodology with experience in most phases of drug development
- Outstanding knowledge of overall drug development process relevant to pharmaceutical/biotech organizations
- Financial acumen; capable of planning and oversight of project budgets and product valuations; understanding of portfolio management concepts
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with customers and key stakeholders, good conflict management skills
- Excellent analytical skills, with an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way
- Ability to translate strategy into action; strong influence, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Proven track record of good decision making and exercising sound judgement
- Results and detail-oriented; self-motivated
- Experience using Project Management software to manage complex project timelines and resources
- Working knowledge/understanding of best-practice alliance/collaboration management principles and concepts, techniques and tools
- Ability to successfully lead a sub-team or initiative with little or no oversight.
