The Position

The Solution Architect’s primary responsibilities include:

 

  • Investigate and develop innovative workplace technology solutions in line with business strategies and needs. Develop proposals accordingly, clearly articulating benefits and cost.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging workplace technology trends and developments; monitor outcomes of research work.
  • Carry out prototyping, proofs of concept, and technology and/or product evaluation.
  • Stakeholder in the construction process and the implementation of all workplace technology solutions.
  • Understand and evolve Genentech’s current and future IT workplace landscape and architecture and assess the impact of implementing new technologies.
  • Define and communicate core user focused design concepts through to implementation level.

·      Work with vendors, architecture, operations, and solution owners managing the prototyping and evaluation of scenarios.

·      Ensure efforts and solutions align and adhere to the Pharma Informatics organization’s Technical Architecture Framework (TAF) policies, standards and direction as well as Solution Owner requirements.

·      Ensure proper training of support teams on the technology solution.

·      Stay abreast of operational difficulties and issues; work with support team staff to provide escalation support.

·      Ensure Quality standards as per company specifications are followed.

  • Pragmatic and be able to provide leadership in workplace solutions.
  • Deep understanding of workspace design, new technologies and concepts, and how they integrate.
  • Deep understanding of network, WiFi, audio, video and web conferencing technologies and applied security.
  • Experience in working with vendor roadmaps and their potential impact on technical landscapes.
  • Proven track record of working with Site Engineering teams during all phases of construction projects.
  • Highly motivated and enjoy the challenge of working in a global environment across teams.
  • Excellent customer orientation and delivery focus with good end user perspective.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

 

Mandatory Education and Experience

·      Bachelor degree in informatics or equivalent work experience.

·      Fluent in English.

  • Proven innovation experience.
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal) a must; German, French and other languages are assets.

·      Seven plus years of experience in the IT Infrastructure field, four plus years of experience in Audio Visual /Collaboration Technologies field.

·      Experience with design and deployment of projects involving Site Engineering, Workplace Planning.

·      Level of independence required in determining methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel.

·      Project management skills or experience.

·      Managerial and influence/negotiation skills.

 

Asset education and experience

·      Able to negotiate and present in English.

·      German, Chinese Mandarin and Spanish language skills.

·      ITIL certification.

·      Experience at similar size installations for multinational companies.
