Funding Priorities
Genentech prioritizes/focuses funding towards programs and events such as:
- Patient Services
- Patient Outreach
- Patient Education
- Disease Education
- Fundraisers
- Health screenings
- Scientific/Medical Meetings, Conferences, Seminars and Symposia
How to Apply
Grant requests must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the start date of the proposed project. You must upload the following documents in order to submit your application:
- W-9 Form / W-8BEN Form
- Promotional materials and/or event advertising
- Meeting agenda (if applicable)
Before you start the submission process, please be sure to have the following information available:
- Organization information
- Valid email for communications
- Event, activity or program details
Application Tips:
You will have to provide the name and email address of a legally authorized approver of the request before you can complete submission.
A detailed budget will have to be entered into the system. Be sure to "Calculate" after every entry, in order to post each line item.
Note that funding decisions are made at Genentech's sole discretion.

Funding Requirements
Your organization must be recognized by the IRS as a tax exempt, public charity under sections 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code and be located in the United States (or have W8-BEN status if not located in the United States)

Funding Restrictions
In order to be eligible for this type of funding, your organization must not be:
- A political or sectarian organization
- A group practice or private physician office
- Based outside of the United States
- Owned in whole or in part by a physician or a group of physicians
In order to be eligible for this type of funding, the funding must not be used for:
- Advertising in medical journals
- Alumni drives
- Capital campaigns/building funds
- Continuing medical education
- Individuals
- Infrastructural requests(e.g. salaries, equipment)
- Memberships
- Professional sports events or athletes
- Religious purposes
- Scholarships
- Yearbooks
Decision Making
Genentech has a rolling review policy when evaluating funding requests for healthcare-related charitable support. This allows qualified requestors the opportunity to apply anytime during year.
Requests must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the project/program start date. Decisions are made on a case-by-case basis; you will usually hear back from Genentech within 60 days of application.
Letter of Agreement (LOA)
All grants must abide by the terms in the Genentech Letter of Agreement (LOA), which is issued to an authorized signer of your organization once the application is approved. You must agree to the terms of the LOA before any funding is issued.
