Molecular Biology
I visited Genentech in 1989 and gave a seminar on CD4 and HIV interactions. That was my first and only direct exposure to the environment here for quite some time but it made enough of a lasting impression that I was very excited when the opportunity to come here as a scientist arose many years later.
My Focus
We have primarily been using neural development as our biological paradigm for these investigations, but are beginning to branch out into metabolism. In addition to the largely postdoctoral based efforts of my own lab, I am very involved in a number of projects in Molecular Biology that are also based in murine genetics.
