Types/formats of educational activities that Genentech will consider for grant funding include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Educational support to Professional Medical Societies
• Grand rounds
• Symposia/satellite symposia
• Teleconferences
• Webcasts
• Printed media (e.g., monographs, newsletters)
• Recorded programs (e.g., podcasts)
• Interactive digital-media programs (e.g., Internet, CD-ROMs)

Grant requests must demonstrate the ability to meet unmet educational needs of the target audience and encourage the improvement of patient outcomes. The selection of medium and format should be commensurate with the educational needs, the audience, learning preferences, geography, content complexity, and other factors that contribute to educational effectiveness.

Each educational grant awarded must adhere to the following guidelines and standards:

• Office of Inspector General (OIG) Guidelines
• Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Standards for Commercial Support
• Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals
• American Medical Association (AMA) Ethical Guidelines for Gifts to Physicians from Industry
• Other relevant guidelines and regulations
