1998 Annual Report

In Business for Life

The ultimate goal of Genentech's efforts is to improve or extend people's lives. In 1998, Genentech achieved that goal again with the approval of its new monoclonal antibody medicine, Herceptin, for treating certain patients with metastatic breast cancer. Pictured on the front of Genentech's Founders Research Center, Shirley Michaelsen is one of many breast cancer patients to benefit from Herceptin.
