Description A novel small molecule antagonist of the Hedgehog signaling pathway. Abnormal activation of this pathway has been implicated in the progression of certain cancers.

Development Status Phase II clinical trials are ongoing evaluating GDC-0449 for advanced basal cell carcinoma, ovarian cancer maintenance therapy, and in combination with Avastin for first-line metastatic colorectal cancer.

This molecule was discovered by Genentech and was jointly validated through a series of preclinical studies performed under a collaborations agreement between Genentech and Curis, Inc.
