Angiogenesis, the process of new blood vessel formation, is required for many aspects of tissue growth and repair. Stimulation of this process, or pro-angiogenesis, may be a therapeutic benefit in the healing of musculoskeletal tissues (bone, cartilage, and tendons), wounds (surgical, cuts, ulcers, burns, and scars), vasculature (peripheral and coronary arteries and microvascular disorders), and organ repair (liver regeneration, renal disease, and motor neurons).
