"I joined Genentech in 2004 as Associate Director, Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics. In this role, I am responsible for the Pharmacokinetics-Transport function in DMPK department. I came to Genentech to contribute to the small molecule drug discovery and development effort, as well as to work with and learn from the excellent scientists here."
Current Projects "In my group, we are involved with small molecule projects from early stage research to clinical development. We evaluate pharmacokinetics and toxicokinetics in animal models; determine PK/PD relationship to enhance understanding of efficacy; provide input in the selection of first dose in human; determine the rate, extent, & mechanism of drug absorption; determine drug distribution, i.e. plasma protein binding, blood-plasma partitioning, distribution into tumors, blood-brain barrier transport."
Inspiration/Vision "My goal is to help discover and develop molecules into medicines - to enable the right drug at the right dose be given to the right patients at the right schedule. Genentech is the most likely place for that to happen."
