The Position

Product Development Biometrics (PDB) mission is to deliver data and insights about our medicines with excellence and passion.   We set the analytic strategy and establish the quantitative evidence to describe the therapeutic benefit and risk of our molecules to patients.

Biometrics Strategic Operations enables the Biometrics mission.  In our Portfolio team, we develop and implement Biometrics Resource Planning and Initiatives Portfolio strategies by partnering across Biometrics, Finance, PD, IT, and beyond and by building and driving networks for alignment and transparency.  We enable our stakeholders to make informed and timely decisions, actively scrutinizing how we utilize our resources and understanding the value we get in return.  We solicit ideas for innovation and improvements in Biometrics work and then guide the transformation of those ideas into solutions. 

The PDB Portfolio Support Specialist intern will provide resource planning support and coordination to enable forecasting accuracy. The holder of the position will also provide portfolio analyis and reporting support by maintaining and executing current reports/tools and developing new visualizations and reports. 

Main responsibilities:

Portfolio Analysis and Reporting Support
Ensure development, implementation, and execution of Molecule and Molecule-Enabling Portfolio Analysis and Reporting to enable operational efficiency and optimal decision-making by:
  • Maintaining processes and tools for tracking project and portfolio information, e.g., Biometrics Team Excellence Dashboard,  Molecule-enabling Health Reporting, etc.
  • Supporting the development and production of portfolio reports and proactively ensuring visibility of portfolio information
  • Partnering with Portfolio Managers (PoM), Global Business Analysts (GBA), Biometrics leaders, project teams and functions to determine reporting needs and expectations, and develop and maintain appropriate reports and information visualization tools
  • Maintaining portfolio information by establishing regular contact with stakeholders and other root changes sources

Resource Planning Support and Coordination:
Ensure implementation and execution of the resource planning business processes to drive forecasting accuracy by:

  • Supporting key resource planning processes, including coordinating communications regarding FTE activities/timelines between teams and stakeholders (e.g. Biometrics Functional Teams, Therapeutic Area Heads, Site Heads, Global Head) with basic project management skills.
  • Supporting establishment, implementation and maintenance of global processes, responsibilities, algorithms and systems for the allocation of resources with the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Supporting fact–based, meaningful, resource planning data reporting and analysis for stakeholders, to drive appropriate resourcing and budgeting decisions, with direct data input and maintenance in PlanSource (planning system).
  • Partnering with Global Business Analysts (GBA) to support forecasting rounds and any resource planning questions by producing resource reports from PlanSource and Business Objects and Spotfire (planning system & reporting interface).
  • Partner with GBAs and PharmaRes administrators to maintain data quality
  • Coordinating, consolidating and maintaining Biometrics Functions’ capacity trackers

Education/Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Experience in collection and analysis of data
  • Experience in visualization tools and methods 
  • Proficiency in Excel is a must
  • Proficiency in Sharepoint is desirable
  • Proficiency in Spotfire and/or Tableau visualization software is desirable
  • Effective communication, organizational, coordination, and time management skills
  • Ability to work with a global team and independently in a fast paced environment
  • Engages, convinces and is adaptive to stakeholders
  • Proactive in identification of problems and finding and collaborating with others on solutions
