Research Operations partners with Scientists and other business units at Genentech to support day to day activities to the Research organization. We act as liaisons between the science and building engineering teams to translate science into the construction world.
The intern will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
Assist with maintaining accurate office seating maps and lab loading maps.
Assist with space database management.
Assist with maintaining web pages and scientist profiles on gene.com.
Attend weekly OACs as the user rep to communicate construction schedules and building shutdowns to the scientists. Construction projects range from small equipment installs to larger lab remodels and subsequent lab/people moves.
Review and verify construction drawings meet equipment specifications and capture project scope agreed with the Scientists during concept design.
Use skills above to participate in a space database development. We aspire to collect data for 1.3M SF of lab and office that is translatable into a spatially related databases using several database systems and programming teams. The project team will include information technologies, workplace planning, facilities, and researchers.
Work Hours: 40 hours per week
Start Date: Summer 2018
Length of assignment: 12 weeks
Who You Are
To be successful in this role, you will be or you will have:
Course work in architecture / engineering / construction management / project management
Works well in a team environment.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to creatively solve problems.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Detail oriented and reliable.
Comfortable working with databases and enterprise business systems.
Proficient in standard office suites such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and Google Applications (Mail, Calendar, Documents, etc.).
Knowledge in Adobe Contribute and Word Press a plus but not required.
