The Position

A visible senior internal consulting role supporting Genentech's Commercial organization responsible for the design, development, modeling, and communication of compensation programs and matters. You will be part of a dynamic team of compensation professionals who support Genentech's business unit clients on compensation programs and matters designed to help achieve the company goals and objectives. In turn, this includes activities which positively impact retention of top talent, improves our ability to attract new talent in an increasingly competitive marketplace, and supports our leaders understanding of key emerging trends in the industry. Additionally, you will support and participate in the design, development, and administration of corporate compensation programs including base pay, bonus, equity, recognition and executive compensation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides the full spectrum of compensation support to the Commercial organization. Assesses business objectives and works with executives, line management, HR Managers and others in the Compensation Department to support those objectives.
  • Assesses compensation programs, policies and practices, presents conclusions to appropriate management and makes actionable recommendations.
  • Develops and conducts compensation training programs to familiarize managers and employees with key elements of the company's compensation programs.
  • Serves as the Commercial organization's technical expert on compensation related matters.

This position is not eligible for relocation.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Ten or more years experience in all aspects of compensation.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of employees, including senior management. Has the ability to obtain, present and discuss information and recommendations that may be controversial in nature.
  • Must be capable of leading or influencing processes and decision making at a senior level.
  • Other requirements include experience working in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment, project management skills and strong written, verbal and presentation skills, strong analytical and computer skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong background in the following areas is preferred: compensation consulting, sales compensation, HR/Comp support in a sales environment.
