An entrepreneurial spirit, with skills in creative solutions and an innovative approach will make for a perfect fit for the Knowledge Operations Manager (KOM) position in Genentech’s gRED Early Clinical Development (ECD) organization. The KOM is responsible for the ownership, adoption, and continuous improvement of the knowledge management (KM) infrastructure, and the related processes, and promotion of stakeholder relationships. The individual will be the designated lead for growing ECD’s knowledge management solutions, managing ECD knowledge through the entire content lifecycle, including Roche’s records management guidelines, establishing partnerships within and beyond ECD, while challenging the status quo to identify pain points and driving novel approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and develop the information architecture of gRED ECD KM solutions.
  • Lead adoption of knowledge management solutions and related business processes across different stakeholder groups.
  • Closely collaborate and partner with different ECD groups to ensure full participation in project implementation.
  • Work with stakeholders as to the best way to manage, share, store, and collaborate on their knowledge, connect the dots, and identify potential duplication of efforts while at it.
  • Support developing and implementing long-term strategies and novel approaches for sustainable knowledge development, organization, collaboration, and distribution.
  • Champion ECD’s knowledge management Governance model, including document properties, metadata, naming conventions, access control and workflow; ensure relationships are defined between documents and business processes to enable more streamlined decision-making.
  • Drive for compliance with Roche records retention policies (i.e. COREMAP) across ECD.
  • Challenge status quo and look for new ways to capture knowledge, lessons learned and strengthen the benefits of knowledge sharing across the organization and strategic business partners.
  • Constantly learn, ideate, and generate strategies around the digital transformation of KM using novel technologies (AI, chatbots, ML, etc.)

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree (preferred): Library, Information Sciences (or related field) with thorough understanding of knowledge processes and document management principles.
  • 5+ years of experience in the knowledge management field or related disciplines.
  • Technical knowledge of SharePoint, SalesForce, ZenDesk, Documentum or other electronic content management systems or overall technical background.
  • Thorough understanding of novel technology trends (AI, ML, NLP, automation, etc.) and their significance and impact on knowledge management.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and awareness of how large organizations are set-up and the ability to handle pertinent challenges.
  • Agile, analytical, able to successfully navigate through ambiguity and manage change, challenge the status quo, identify inefficiencies and propose streamlined, scalable solutions.
  • Ability to work independently, proactive, able to connect the dots, come up with innovative solutions.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Limited travel (international and national) may be required.
  • Multi- disciplinary experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry is desirable.
