Vacaville Procurement manages a portfolio of procurement categories in Vacaville including but not limited to facility maintenance, capital projects, indirect goods and services, MRO materials, bulk chemicals and utilities. This position, located in Vacaville, CA is a member of the Site Procurement team focused on maximizing the value delivered relative to spend, and the management of internal costs through cross-functional category management, robust sourcing strategies, and managing supplier performance and relationships.

The Position:

The Specialist/Senior Contracts Specialist is the central point of contact for all Vacaville GNE contract requests and manages a portfolio of contracts for the site. This position requires knowledge of Procurement Best Practices, contract terms, and the ability to work on very complex contracts in a fast paced environment. Success in this position will be achieved by building strong partnerships with key stakeholders to develop, manage, and improve category and sourcing strategies that deliver World Class results.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage a portfolio of contracts and work closely with key internal stakeholders, GNE Legal Department, and third party suppliers to prepare, negotiate, and secure approval on various contracts.
  • Develop and maintain a contract database for tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Analyze and negotiate vendor proposals to ensure that they contain the detail required to execute a contract.
  • Ensure timely execution of contracts and hand-off to internal stakeholders.
  • Gather data, run reports, conduct various analyses, modeling, and complete monthly metrics.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to review contract needs and requirements in order to align with GNE Procurement policies and business objectives.
  • Work with Procurement Team to seek process improvement opportunities.
  • Serve as a resource for the Procurement Team and participate in ad hoc projects as assigned.
  • Maintain the Vacaville Procurement website ensuring that all information is up to date, links are functioning properly and improvements are made on a continuous basis.

Requirements:

The successful candidate must be organized and possess strong analytical skills. Takes accountability for actions, drives results, learns from mistakes and operates with the highest level of integrity. Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with internal customers and external suppliers in executing Procurement initiatives.  Provides timely, accurate, and effective support contributing to organizational and corporate goals. Assists with improving the efficiency of processes while providing a high level of customer service.

Exceeds stakeholder expectations and builds collaborative partnerships between the Procurement organization, site functional organizations, and the broader business within Roche.

Establishes and builds successful supplier relationships.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 1 + years of procurement or related experience working in a GMP environment with demonstrated responsibilities in the area(s) of Procurement, Accounting, or Supply Chain.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, or aptitude to learn, current policies and guidelines that affect contracts, pricing, and rebates.
  • Technical proficiency with Procurement systems and tools desired (eSourcing; SAP and Ariba experience preferred)
  • Proven ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and professionalism
  • Able to interface with cross functional teams in order to enable the routine delivery of exceptional operational performance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively up and down all levels of the organization
  • Excellent planning and prioritization skills with the ability to synthesize large amounts of information.
  • Biotech/pharmaceutical experience desirable.
