We are seeking a Scientific Researcher to join the formulation group in the Small Molecule Pharmaceutical Sciences (SMPS), Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED). SMPS is responsible for the early pharmaceutical development (Ph I and II) of gRED small molecule drug molecules.
The candidate shall possess expertise in standard unit operations such as blending, milling, roller compaction, wet granulation, fluid-bed drying, tablet compression and tablet film coating. The candidate will assist scientists to design and execute formulation development studies, as well as to conduct data analysis using mathematical or statistical tools. The candidate will also perform small-scale manufacturing and routine testing on powders and compacts, such as tablet hardness, friability, particle size, flow and density, as well as novel testing methods as necessary. The candidate will regularly utilize isolator technology to handle potent compounds and potentially hazardous materials, and must adhere strictly to existing procedures and safety guidelines.
The ideal candidate must be familiar with key scientific disciplines and technologies involved in solid dosage formulation development, and demonstrate solid understanding in math and engineering principles. Experience in solid dosage form development and characterization is required. Experience working in GMP environment and in preparation of GMP related documentations is preferred.
The ideal candidate will possess skills sufficient to draft and review reports, batch records, and SOPs. Familiarity with spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets) is a required competency. Authorship of peer-reviewed publications or patents is a plus. Experience with data analysis software (such as JMP or MATLAB) or programming language (such as Python or R) is strongly preferred.
Candidate shall work well within the team, and have excellent skills in communication, organization, flexibility and an eagerness to learn and adapt new science and technologies.
Education Requirement: A BS degree in pharmaceutics, materials science, chemical engineering, or relevant fields with no less than 3 years of experience, or an MS degree with no less than 1 year of experience in solid dosage form development.
