The Principal Project Management GIS Project Delivery and Transition (PDT) position will be responsible for managing application and infrastructure projects and/or programs (defined as a collection of distinct projects). The Principal Project Manager is accountable for successfully meeting business solutions by implementing technical and/or process solutions. The Principal Project Manager is expected to effectively manage and enforce project and process adherence, specifically the Group Informatics Project Management Methodology (PMM) and associated governance processes across all related projects in the program. The Principal Project Manager will be responsible for managing project/program resources, project/program budgets & financial forecasts, scope control, risks, issues and creating and tracking integrated project plans for any program assigned. This position is expected to provide timely executive level communications and status roll-ups for programs or project clusters assigned, to all stakeholders and escalate issues to the appropriate management level. Additionally, this position must effectively manage the projects across global locations and time zones and be able to travel internationally as needed.
The PDT– Project Delivery & Transition department is responsible to establish, plan, control, execute, and transition to operations the projects within the Enterprise Shared Portfolio of GIS.
The Project Manager is responsible to scope, plan, manage and control global IT projects and to report in a timely, accurate and transparent manner by help of standardized methods to allow accurate portfolio management and project execution control withinGIS.
Project Scope Management
Formulates and defines scope and objectives of programs or projects in collaboration with the accountable Solution Owner / Component Owner and ensures agreement and communication of project goals, schedule baselines, and strategic direction to all identified stakeholders
Project Stakeholder / Communication Management
Is responsible to identify all relevant project stakeholders and to establish and implement an appropriate communication plan to manage their requirements
Manages relationships with various technology and business communities to achieve
Project / Portfolio Delivery
Define, plan, and drive the execution of projects or a program as collection of projects (defined by technology, customer or functionality) in both application and infrastructure domains
Primarily responsible to deliver the projects on approved (baseline) schedule, on approved (baseline) budget, within quality limits, and with the expected benefits, as defined at project entry and project baseline gates and through controlled and documented change management throughout project delivery, as needed
Project Risk, Assumption, Issue and Dependency (RAID) Management
Actively manages risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies (RAID) by carefully assessing potential impacts in collaboration with the respective project teams and proposing appropriate mitigation actions Is also responsible to identify, actively manage and integrate with any dependent projects or activities
Project Planning, Tracking, Control & Reporting
Creates baseline project schedules and tracks the completion of project deliverables, tasks, activities and milestones
Provides accurate, timely and fit for purpose programs and/or project status reports using established norms and reporting tools of the Portfolio Management Office (PMO)
Plan, baseline and control costs to ensure program and/or projects are on approved baseline budget
Team Building & Leadership
Identify, acquire, and lead multifunctional, global project teams of up to 60 team members and above (employees and contractors)
Organizes and supervises the appropriate involvement of project resources and actively manages and addresses the resolution of conflicts within the project team
Acts as an opinion leader/evangelist for best practices in project delivery
Provides guidance and mentoring to the other project managers in the community
Ensures and is directly accountable for compliance with project management, portfolio management and CSV policies, guidelines, process tools and reporting standards of the portfolio
These norms will include all system qualification/validation state documentation, project documentation and resource forecasting/tracking, financial forecasting / tracking and governance procedures of the portfolio for the specific projects assigned
Manage the processes required to ensure timely and appropriate generation, collection, distribution, storage, retrieval, and ultimate disposition of project information and documentation necessary for successful communications across all stakeholders and any required updates to living system documents for validated systems
Facilitate project management activities across the entire project management methodology (PMM)
12+ years of experience as a successful Information Technology Project Manager using structured project management processes
Relevant Bachelor's degree in CS, MIS, Life Sciences, Business; or equivalent experience
Post-graduate work in a related field a plus
Deep understanding of various System Development Life Cycles (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Iterative, Spiral, Safe, etc.)
Solid understanding of technology infrastructures
Demonstrated experience working and delivering projects in a scientific environment and/or pharmaceutical business areas.
Demonstrated competency planning and tracking project schedules with clearly-defined critical paths
Demonstrated experience in managing projects with significant potential to cause moderate to drastic business disruption
Demonstrated experience in managing external contractors/suppliers throughout the engagement process (RFx process) and throughout the full project life cycle
Ability to manage the complexity of scope, time, cost, quality, risk, team dynamics on a global level in order to deliver programs and large multifunctional complex projects across multiple global locations
Demonstrated experience in managing large scale, very complex organizational change and supporting high performing, large (up to 60 or above team members) dynamic teams in virtual, cross-functional and matrixed project environments
Ability to see the interrelationship of a project across "the big picture" and understand its dependency on other projects within and outside the program as required
Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as presentation abilities
Demonstrated success communicating across a variety of audiences, including
business partners and informatics technologists (both up and down the organization)
Exceptional listening, problem solving, negotiation, and facilitation skills
Proven leadership abilities and emotional intelligence
Demonstrated success handling initiatives of high complexity and risk
PMP, Prince2 (or equivalent) certification required
Ability to guide, mentor and coach colleagues in the best practices of project management
Experience within the Pharmaceutical and/or BioTech industry
Experience deploying GxP validated system
Prior experience managing offshore contract resources
