The Position

Genentech seeks a talented and highly motivated scientist to pursue a postdoctoral research project in Process Virology, Pharma Technical Development. This project will contribute to the development of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for cell line characterization and viral safety evaluation of CHO cells used in biotechnology production. Candidates should possess strong experience with both computational and experimental techniques for sample analysis by NGS. The position has cross-function interactions with a group of talented and highly motivated scientists and engineers at Genentech. This is an ideal position for a PhD looking to further develop skills learned during their academic coursework.

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, or other relevant discipline
  • Record of publication in peer reviewed journals, including first authorship
  • Strong experience with both computational and experimental technique, including sample process and data analysis for NGS
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Virology experience considered a plus, but is not required
