A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Cancer Immunology (PI: Junichiro Sonoda) to investigate the biological mechanisms that regulate immune cell infiltration and function in the tumor-microenvironment and other models of induced tissue remodeling.
He/she will perform independent laboratory research applying skills to address fundamental questions, formulate hypotheses, design and execute experiments, interpret data and write and publish papers. The successful candidate will combine cutting-edge biochemistry, transcriptional profiling, cellular immunology, biomedical imaging and tissue profiling in a highly collaborative environment of Genentech Research. Selected publications from the Sonoda lab: Sci Transl Med 3(113)113ra126 (2011); JBC 290(40): 24166–77 (2015); EBioMed 2(7): 728–741 (2015); JBC 291(11): 5986–96 (2016); Mol Metab 6(11): 1454-67 (2018).
Requirements: Ph.D. in Immunology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology or related field. Experience with mouse models of tumorigenesis, tissue injury repair, or metabolic dysregulation is highly desirable. The candidate must have initiated and advanced at least one research project as evidenced by a first author paper published or accepted in a well recognized peer-reviewed journal. To work in a highly interactive environment, this person should also have excellent communication and organization skills.
