The Position

The Global Access (GA) department at F. Hoffmann-La Roche, Ltd. is seeking a Senior Access Evidence Leader (sAEL). The role of the Access Evidence Leaders (AELs) is to provide Access Evidence expertise throughout the product’s life-cycle to ensure that Global Development Teams and team/portfolio decision makers consider payer/HTA requirements early and throughout the development process. The role of the sAEL is to manage the SSF based AELs and be the be the primary point of contact for Access Evidence in SSF as well covering a limited number of projects as an AEL.

This position will be based in South San Francisco and will report to the Head of Access Evidence and Statistics in the GA Access Center of Excellence (ACE).

The sAEL will work closely with a number of global functions in order to ensure that access evidence is consistently and appropriately considered in the strategic development of Roche products. The sAEL is responsible for ensuring that high quality and adequate HTA and payer evidence required to support the Pricing and Market Access Strategies are considered and incorporated in the product development plans across the product’s life-cycle.

The Senior Access Evidence Leader will:

  • Lead, manage and develop a team of Access Evidence Leaders based in SSF (2-3 people), determining long-range goals of the organization and identifying and pursuing new projects to ensure rapid, broad and sustainable access
  • Actively ensure cross functional collaboration, developing and maintaining a network of internal partners with the aim to discuss and generate an integrated evidence approach to market access evidence
  • Be the primary point of contact for Access Evidence at the SSF site and ensure collaboration with all relevant groups internally in the company specifically partners based in SSF
  • Contribute to maintaining and updating existing processes and deliverables to systematically and comprehensively generate access evidence
  • Contribute to decision making regarding generation of Access Evidence
  • Develop and maintain a network of relevant stakeholders in the field of HTA
  • Drive the Access Evidence discusson at the molecule level for specific projects ensuring HTA/payer requirements are considered, mitigation strategies are developed and trade-offs are clear to inform decision making.
  • Modeling and driving access excellence across Global Access, other global, regional and affiliate functions and teams; playing a lead role in supporting Access’s transformation into an agile, project-based organization
  • Developing and maintaining in-depth knowledge of internal/external access evidence dynamics, trends and requirements 
  • Defining team and project budgets and other requirements. Ensuring project and resource status are transparent, clearly and timeously communicated to enable stakeholders to make the best decisions for the business
  • Supporting capability development by sharing access evidence expertise and educating others in these realms
  • Ensuring projects and project teams meet or exceed goals and objectives

Who you are

We are looking for candidates with the following profile:

Qualifications

Graduate or higher level qualification in at least one of the following:

  • Science or medical degree
  • Post-Graduate Qualification in Health Economics or related discipline
  • Statistics or quantitative related discipline
  • Masters of Business Administration

Skillset Required

  • Expert knowledge of local pricing and reimbursement requirements for clinical value elements to support the product value proposition
  • Excellent knowledge of clinical evidence throughout product development
  • Strong ability to collaborate with internal functional experts and to explain technical concepts to non-experts.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding quantitative and qualitative objectives and goals
  • Recognized as a thought leader across a broad set of access topics with ability to deep-dive quickly into new topics, process and link a significant amount of information
  • Strong leadership skills: can build vision and strategy and lead others in the accomplishment of this.  Demonstrable abilities to oversee the work of other team members and ensure the highest standards, efficiencies and overall effectiveness
  • Strong track record of attracting, inspiring, retaining and developing talent
  • Outstanding consulting skills: consistent and proven track record of helping internal partners/stakeholders address strategic opportunities and solve problems

  • Strong project and process management skills: proven abilities to effectively and efficiently manage multiple priorities, goals, objectives and tasks through to successful conclusion
  • Strong financial acumen: proven abilities to effectively manage large expense budgets and make significant contributions to long-range revenue planning, scenario planning and risk mitigation/management
  • Strong customer orientation/focus
  • Ability to travel globally
  • Fluent written and verbal English

Experience

  • Seven or more years’ experience in either the Pharmaceutical, Consulting Industry or HTA Agencies
  • Experience of drug development and health technology assessment requirements
  • Experience in both commercial and clinical development functions of pharmaceutical industry desirable
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with at least one disease area relevant to Roche Pharma portfolio
