The Position

We have an opening for a talented Scientist in the Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology Department on our South San Francisco campus. This Scientist will be expected to:

  • Provide in vitro pharmacology support to small molecule drug discovery teams in such areas as: enzyme kinetics, receptor binding, drug-target binding kinetics, mechanisms of action, cell line/primary cell biology, and/or target validation
  • Design, develop and implement biochemical and/or cellular assays for high throughput screening, lead optimization and characterization, and/or pharmacodynamics biomarker assays
  • Identify and implement cutting-edge biochemical and/or cellular assay platforms and data workflows to enable innovative drug discovery
  • Collaborate with scientists from medicinal chemistry, protein science, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, and therapeutic areas to advance small molecule therapeutics to the clinic

Who You Are

You have:

  • A Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular/cellular pharmacology or a related field
  • At least 3 years of relevant post-doctoral experience, and a documented interest in small molecule drug discovery
  • Experience in enzymology and/or cell biology; experience designing and developing biochemical and/or cellular assays in various formats
  • Familiarity or expertise with automation and liquid handling, and familiarity with the overall practice of small molecule lead finding/lead optimization
  • Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills
  • Rigorous, quantitative methods, persistence, and ability to work in teams
  • Passion for scientific discovery, problem solving, conquering technical challenges and uncovering scientific truths
