The Position

Biomedicine has become a data intensive endeavor, shifting focus from classical confirmatory statistical hypotheses testing for a few biological variables, to searching for meaningful dynamical patterns in high dimensional state space; capturing and shedding new light on fundamental biological phenomena. This has led to an increasing use of, and development of, new computational and mathematical modeling techniques within biomedicine.

We are seeking an independent and highly motivated Scientist to work within our Computational & Mathematical modeling group within the Department of Cancer Immunotherapy. You will work with us to develop new mathematical and computational methods for integrative and holistic data exploitation, as well as develop, implement and prototype software and pipelines aimed at biomarker discovery and companion diagnostics. Our research currently is focused on understanding cancer phenotypes and the interaction with genetic and immune system related variables. For example, you will participate in trying to deepen our understanding of the dynamics within tumor microenvironments supported by our unique and growing collections of omics data, imaging data and real world data.

Who You Are

Candidates for this position should have:

  • PhD with a postdoctoral experience in Mathematical Sciences, Computer Science, Bioinformatics or similar fields, with a proven track record in mathematical modeling.
  • Proficient in general in computational and programming languages such as R, Python, Matlab Julia etc.
  • You have a deep interest in biology and will be able to contribute to scientific efforts focused on understanding diseases.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; you are able to present complex results, both verbally and in writing, to mathematical & computational audiences as well as to life scientists.
  • A passion for innovation, and demonstrated initiative and track record in tackling new areas of research.
