The Position

The Department of Oncology Biomarker Development at Genentech Research is seeking a highly motivated Associate scientist to contribute to the development of predictive/pharmacodynamic biomarkers in support of Genentech's extensive Early Development oncology portfolio. The successful candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary team, including colleagues from research, bioinformatics and clinical sciences.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for translational research to enable the development of

biomarkers and assays for use in the clinical development of personalized cancer vaccines. Experimental strategies will include application of cellular immunology in developing immune monitoring assays. Specific responsibilities will include processing and analyzing clinical trial samples, data analysis and presentation, and contributing to experimental design and planning.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g. immunology, molecular biology, cancer genetics, cancer biology, molecular oncology). Experience in basic or translational research either in an academic and/or industry setting, desirably in immunology or tumor immunology. Post doc experience is not required but candidates with 1-2 years of postdoc are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated accomplishments with first authored publications in in the field of Immunology/tumor immunology
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills as the candidate will present results at intra- and inter-departmental meetings
  • The position requires experience with human immunological assays including flow cytometry, genomics and functional assays and the ability to independently design, execute and interpret experiments

Expertise in immunology techniques including immune cell isolation, flow cytometry (8 colors), T cell stimulation assays, antigen presentation assays, monitoring of T cell responses.
