As a manager of the Clinical Coding Strategies team in Clinical Data Management, you provide organizational leadership and strategic direction to ensure CDM performance in support of the clinical development portfolio and non-molecule projects. You will partner and align with key stakeholders in the management of our clinical trials, specifically in the area of clinical and pharmacovigilance coding, in the establishment of best practices and to foster innovation. You will contribute to the development and implementation of the global CDM strategy. You will lead, coach and develop a team of individual contributors for the success of CDM.

Job Description:

  • Manages the overall contribution of individual team members to ensure the effective execution of CDM deliverables.
  • Ensures effective two-way communication between staff and management and fosters strong communication of direct reports.
  • Ensures the PD, Biometrics and CDM mission, vision, values and goals are understood and that individuals are clear on how they contribute to them
  • Leads or Contributes to the planning, implementation and championing of sub-functional and CDM operational strategy
  • Collaborates with global and local management teams to ensure studies and non-study tasks are adequately resourced, utilizing service provider resources as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with local Human Resources to recruit and hire new staff.
  • Coaches, supports, manages and leads staff in setting personal goals, clarifying expectations and job accountabilities.
  • Provides feedback and recognition to staff on a continuous basis.
  • Supports and develops staff through the creation of Development Plans as well encourages staff in identification of new development opportunities
  • Promotes CDM functional excellence by facilitating knowledge sharing and creating an environment of continuous improvement
  • Contributes to and manages components of the CDM budget
  • Contributes to the development, implementation and change management of manager best practices and leads working groups/initiatives at the local, global level
  • Manages employee relations and maximizes employee motivation and well being. Accountable for all aspects of staff performance.
  • Foster a compliance culture and demonstrate compliance leadership by ensuring that Employees are aware of the importance of compliance in their day-to-day activities, and are adequately trained in and compliant with all relevant policies and practices at both a global and local level
  • Actively build connections with relevant stakeholders, promoting optimal working solutions and ensuring successful outcomes


  • BA/BS degree or equivalent
  • Personnel management skills or team leadership experience preferred
  • Proven experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry with an emphasis in CDM
  • Practical and/or theoretical knowledge within sub-function
