The Pipeline & Portfolio Planning (PPP) group brings value to patients and Roche through portfolio management and lifecycle planning. PPP serves as a trusted partner to enable quality decision-making through strategic framing, portfolio insights, knowledge and systems and decision management.



In this role, you will work closely with senior management in making critical product development and portfolio investment decisions by working in fit for purpose ways across teams and Oncology TA.  You will advance the Oncology portfolio by driving the portfolio mindset and supporting fast and smart decision making.  The successful candidate will be able to thrive in an agile environment by focusing on key portfolio priorities across multiple teams.

Responsibilities:

Representative responsibilities include:

  • Advising teams (Lifecyle teams or disease area teams) on significant development decisions and lifecycle plans
  • Partnering closely with teams for late stage projects to optimize value of a molecule
  • Performing business case assessments for development decisions, including valuation of various options to be considered by the lifecycle team
  • Providing context for decisions, both disease area and portfolio context, to help teams make decisions with a portfolio mindset
  • Support Oncology TA governance by providing portfolio tools and insights to guide decision making
  • Supporting teams and decision makers with new agile process and approaches
  • Liase with business managers across the portfolio to measure decision management performance, employ organizational learnings and continously improve approach
  • Represent PPP in leading cross-portfolio initiatives and processes, including executive presentations and strategy development

Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Good understanding of pharmaceutical/biotech industry, drug development process and trends, and portfolio management
  • Scientific background, business acumen, and experience in oncology desired
  • Ability to influence senior leaders on critical decisions
  • Experience successfully leading strategic initiatives
  • Ability to lead and facilitate cross functional teams
  • Ability to navigate within a changing organization, maintaining objectivity, respect for differences of opinion, fairness, open communication and consensus building skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including clear, succinct and timely communication and proven ability to foster and build important relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to innovate

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in science, engineering, business or a related field. Experience or background in Oncology is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals or a related field in business related functions. Experience in strategic planning and analytics is strongly desirable.
  • Ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in portfolio management, market assessments, business development, or management consulting, with demonstrated career progression in role.
  • Evidence of strong strategic thinking, communication, analytics/modeling, planning and organizational skills required. Interviews will include case studies.
