Utility Plant Operator N3
As a member of the Utility Operations team you will maintain and operate the utility equipment to supply seamless Air, Steam, Water, Power and other utility services to the Genentech, Vacaville site to enable the production of high quality bulk pharmaceutical. Utility operators are responsible for monitoring all utility equipment for operation, performance and regulatory requirements in addition to supporting other site functions on an as needed basis. This position also provides technical subject matter expertise to our customers and support groups. Operators respond to a wide range of equipment problems and are responsible for timely troubleshooting, documentation and repair of the equipment. The ability to effectively communicate troubleshooting results though the various systems are a core function that operators are tasked with in addition to keeping plant functioning properly. There are occasions when this position may be asked to perform special tasks based on needs of the business. These tasks may be beyond the normal scope of daily operation and maintenance as requested by supervision.
Have the ability to read and understand mechanical blue prints and electrical schematic (P&ID’s) coupled with basic knowledge and use of hand tools.
Experience with boilers, air compressor systems, pumps, water purification systems such as reverse osmosis, vapor compression stills, clean steam generators, ancillary utility support systems and the automated controls that drive them is highly desired.
Ability to perform operation and maintenance tasks from written procedures in a cGMP environment and document actions in a clear, concise and timely manner.
This position requires frequent collaboration with coworkers and management along with the ability to provide clear written and verbal communication.
Be familiar with the basic PC skills such as Microsoft word, excel, and E-mail.
Must be available to work on any shift assigned to them. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, and have the ability to climb to perform job functions as needed.
Minimum requirement is a High school education, or GED. Trade school focused on technical sciences with 2yr or 4yr degree, engineering discipline is preferred. A combination of education and experience in plant maintenance or operations may be considered.
