Job Title: WE Engagement Manager

Main Purpose of the Position:
The WE Engagement Manager is responsible for overseeing cross-functional strategic initiatives across WE, developing the storytelling and engaging with key stakeholders. These efforts span across Work Environment Integration, Scenario & Space Planning, Real Estate Assets, and Work Environment Analytics, and across Genentech’s network of places.
This position will support WELT in creating compelling presentations to articulate WE’s mission and pipeline. Some examples include Quarterly Business Reviews, All Hands presentations, and executive presentations for SAC, GEC, etc.
This position will also have responsibility for serving as a strategic consultant within WE for setting up change initiatives for success, including advising on program structure and approach.
In addition this position will lead market research and engagement efforts for select WE initiatives through gathering “collective intelligence” and other mechanisms to advance the WE campus plan and create more open communication channels. This position may also help WELT members design engagement strategies for WE initiatives they are leading.
These may include engaging the Genentech community in topics such as: a potential new campus entrance/exit, visitor center, parking, network of places, drop ins and other onsite and offsite work locations. As such, this position will play a role in ensuring the effectiveness of WE messaging for high impact delivery and early adoption.
This position will set and ensure compliance with our workplace research, communication and engagement standards to be used across work environment projects.
This position requires excellent strategic thinking, communication and presentation skills, relationship building internally and externally, and understanding of client and WE workforce needs and ability to influence.
Develop and evolve standards, programs, and processes for workplace effectiveness strategic initiatives and determine how to deploy the tools and standards within each Business group. The work of this position will significantly impact WE’s ability to accelerate change and realize adoption of these initiatives.
Lead the creation and implementation of the Workplace Effectiveness communication strategy to facilitate awareness and engagement across Genentech. Play a strong strategic advisor role to WELT members in determining communications and engagement strategy—and independently develop content and approach. Determine appropriate communication applications for different modes of collaboration, in partnership with IT, HR, and Business groups. Ensure alignment with peers in SBO and Corporate Relations.
Integrate external thought leadership into work environment strategy, standards, programs and processes, including measurement and adoption. Manage budget of external research initiatives and events (up to $1M).
Monitor and assess work environment best practices and trends (across socio-tech and places). Recommend potential application to the Genentech environment.
Determine approach and drive synthesizing “collective intelligence” through crowdsourcing, interactive web design, social media, and other technologies to reach a significant portion of the GNE community to accelerate input on decisions regarding future campus offerings. Partner with Director WE Analytics and other WELT members to define strategy and metrics.
Lead engagement efforts for select WE initiatives that support advancing the WE campus plan. These may include crowdsourcing, focus groups, blogs and other digital media approaches to engage the Genentech workforce in topics such as: a potential new campus entrance/exit, visitor center, parking, network of places, drop ins and other onsite and offsite work locations.

Outstanding project management skills and ability to flex and multitask in a shifting environment. Takes a proactive approach to anticipating needs and leads with recommendations.
Outstanding resonant communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively up and down, at all levels of the organization, present complex and/or new ideas with clarity and simplicity. Ability to prepare communications and communicate at the WELT level and with the GNE workforce.
Qualifications: Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
Education: BA/BS degree; Masters degree preferred
Prefer 10+ years business experience; ideally in architecture, real estate, workplace strategy, and/or workplace research. Experience leading organizational change desired.
Experience in workplace consulting with demonstrated ability to successfully realize changes, such as implementation of new work practices (such as working flexibly).
Strong analytics capabilities and can tell an impactful story with data.
Strong abilities in writing, graphics and visual communications
Proficient with social media, interactive web design, crowdsourcing, and application development
This position is not eligible for relocation
