The Position

Business Process Manager (BPM), Channel Operations (CO)

This is a South San Francisco based position.

The general purpose of the CO (Channel Operations) Business Process Manager (BPM) role is to deliver high quality and impactful insights to the CO organization necessary to optimize performance and achieve business objectives.  Key activities include driving an integrated CO strategic, financial and tactical plan, and alignment on operational and system integrations across CO’s four departments, Access partners and squads.   The BPM will work closely with the Director of CO and CO’s Leadership Team to effectively meet CO responsibilities, scale its operations for efficiencies and prepare the organization for future business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, monitor and influence CO Transformation efforts
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of CO’s newly designed organization
    • Support CO efforts in building strong communities of practice to scale and meet evolving customer needs
    • Drive and influence a strong understanding of CO’s contribution to Genentech for both internal and external customers
    • Ensure CO’s newly formed departments are integrating to meet CO’s future vision of cultivating an operations center of excellence
  • Develop, engage and maintain strong partnerships across CO to deepen expertise of functional contributions
  • Oversee, track, monitor and report CO scorecards, as needed
  • Lead finance and resource management activities, providing financial modeling and evaluations to ensure short and long-term investments are adequately funded
  • Lead development of performance measures, establishing frameworks and key metrics anchored against industry benchmarks, as appropriate
  • Lead development, execution, and analysis of key external customer surveys and internal satisfaction surveys.  Act as moderator and conduit for internal and external focus groups, etc.
  • Develop and prepare CO education and/or presentations to meet internal requests and deliverables for varying business needs
  • Evaluate CO process gaps or inefficiencies and work across CO’s three departments to create consolidated CO process maps for improving business operations
  • Drive initiatives to understand and obtain customer feedback on how to improve customer experience within CO
  • Translate business ideas and challenges into process and technology solutions for CO
  • Manage, track, monitor and report against CO annual goals, objectives, 90-day priorities and budgets
  • Champion compliance, effectiveness, and efficiency in process and policies

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or other related graduate-level degree is preferred
  • 12-15 years or more of progressive experience in strategic consulting, analysis or business development
  • Minimum of 2 years' previous experience in a managed care operations, project management or related role
  • Innate ability of taking complex concepts and simplifying
  • Is able to consolidate data and information to tell a cohesive, compelling story 
  • Proven track record in successfully completing projects or other assignments that have resulted in improvements in areas beyond those of his/her immediate scope and responsibilities
  • Able to drive strategy through thoughtful and seamless execution
  • Ability to identify strategic needs, lead all aspects of planning with sound business recommendations, and generate alignment with key business partners
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional presentation skills that encompass clear, compelling communications through synthesizing information and visual story-telling
  • Strong financial modeling knowledge and experience
  • Previous experience in other functions within the biotech, pharmaceutical or related industry is strongly preferred, e.g. customer service and operations, strategic planning, commercial business information systems, etc.
