The Position

Support the Production Services department by working effectively within the group to meet department goals, objectives and tasks to achieve the desired results. Responsible for completing assigned tasks. Work with Supervisor and Lead to prioritize tasks and assignments and make recommendations to maximize efficiency and productivity based on shift needs. Follow department policies and adhere to Genentech Good Documentation Practices. Support the SMS values of Execution, Unity, and Resilience.Lead Technician Lead, coordinate and assign daily operations that include work tasks, breaks, and lunches.Provide coaching and training on technical aspects of the job, best practices and compliance to SOPs.Assist Supervisor with meeting production quality standards by verifying the environment is in compliance with safe standards and SOPs are followed.Assist supervisor with approvals, communications, and improvements.Identify areas and participate in continuous operational improvement. Provide data to supervisors summarizing schedule status. Resolve employee conflict independently and with supervisor.Thorough knowledge of biopharm technology, processes and the underlying scientific concepts.Must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of multiple manufacturing departments.Troubleshoots and investigates complex problems, works with others to implement solutions.Provide coaching and training on best practices and compliance to SOPs.Work with coworkers and supervisor to effectively troubleshoot equipment and process issues.Anticipates potential problems and takes preventative action.Requires judgment to know when it is necessary to consult with supervisor and/or support groups.Understands how own actions impact others and uses this information in decision-making.Inspect work area daily upon arrival and departure for proper safety and cGMP housekeepingEnsure GMP compliance and adherence to safety on the shift.Complete assigned training in a timely manner.Report any equipment problems to Lead/Supervisor immediately.Complete assigned tasks in alignment with department needs.Work closely with other shift personal and customers to meet department/ company goals.Assist with safety and quality area surveys and audits.Provide open candid feedback in department meetings.

This position is aligned with the Day shift.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a high school degree with some college-level course work in biological science, physical sciences or at least 2 years of relevant experience; BA/BS in life/physical sciences or equivalent preferred.
  • Must possess good problem solving, mechanical aptitude, interpersonal communication and team skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with strong focus on quality, details and results.
  • Possess effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to be flexible in work assignments, work weekends, off shifts and overtime as required.
  • Possess proficiency in business applications includingAdhere to ALL Good Manufacturing Procedure (GMP) practices.
  • Complete all required training activities as outlined during orientation.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge to be able to operate equipment, such as autoclaves, washers, and steam lines.
  • You should be able to perform all these duties with minimal supervision.
  • Maximize production output including documentation and labor efficiency while meeting required safety and quality levels.
  • Maximize equipment utilization and ensure conformance with customer needs.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Notify Lead/Supervisor of any deviations or variances.

Dependability: Maintain acceptable attendance record. (>5days/>100hrs) Ensure that shift’s work is completed by the end of the day. Help resolve operational issues as they arise. Be able to manage priorities with minimal supervision.  

TeamworkCollaboration: Work effectively as a team member. Resolve conflict, both within and across functional areas. Involve the Supervisor when events and decisions may impact safety and production. Voice opinions constructively while actively supporting and implementing agreed upon goals and decisions in words, behavior and actions. Promote an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation by assisting others as needed.

Communication: Demonstrate professional conduct when communicating with peers, customers and supervisor. Provide routine updates to supervisor/lead on progress, status and issues associated with assigned tasks. Involve Supervisor before making critical decisions.

Customer Service: Communicate with customers in a professional manner. Ensure appropriate levels of glassware/ labware inventory in all areas of operations. Respond to customer requests promptly.
