A postdoctoral position is available in the Biological Technologies group within Analytical Development and Quality Control, Pharma Technical Development.
The successful applicant will investigate how IgG Fc glycan heterogeneity is modulated during the cell culture process and alters Fc effector function. The candidate will be involved in antibody construct and expression and purification of antibodies with different glycosylation status in collaboration with Cell Culture, Purification, and Protein/Antibody Engineering groups. In addition, the candidate will characterize antibodies using various biological, biochemical, and biophysical methods. In collaboration with the Protein Analytical Chemistry group, the candidate will characterize the glycan structure of antibodies to determine the molecular structure & dynamics of antibody binding to Fc gamma receptors and Fc effector function.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, biophysics, immunology, or related discipline. A strong quantitative background and demonstrated expertise in recombinant protein expression and purification, protein engineering, affinity measurement (SPR, BLI, ITC, etc), analytical and biophysical methods (HPLC, mass spectrometry, etc), fluorescence microscopy, and cell-based assays are desirable. Candidates should have a first-author paper published or accepted in a peer-reviewed journal. Experience in structural biology, glycochemistry/glycobiology and/or single-molecule fluorescence spectrometry is a plus. Successful candidates will be highly motivated and detailed-oriented and able to troubleshoot effectively and work independently. The candidate must have strong collaborative, communication, and organizational skills.
