The Position

Leadership & People Management:

  • Active membership on the Business Support & Operational Excellence Leadership Team and the HTO Extended Leadership Team
  • Manage the Project & Portfolio Management department, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement, responsible for staffing, talent management, coaching, and supporting development
  • Define clear goals, strategies and priorities for the department.
  • Effectively manage the cost center budget
  • Proactively promote positive Safety Culture and cGMP operating principles.

Technical:

  • Leadership of a department of project management and engineering professionals.
  • Provide oversight and ownership for the site Project Portfolio process and ensures alignment of the site and network project portfolios.
  • Provide oversight and ownership for the site Capital Project Execution process.
  • Provide oversight and ownership for the site Technology Transfer Process and management of Site Transfer Leaders (STLs).  Partner with global and site functions to specify, transfer, file and license new products/processes in the plant.
  • Provide oversight for the site Risk Management Process including Quality, Safety and Business Risk as well as Business Continuity.
  • Provides ownership of PMO tools and maintains visibility of HTO project portfolio through tracking of performance metrics KPI's to highlight and continuously improve performance
  • Analyze, report and provide critical insight into deployment of the site's resources for current and future projects (effort, duration, and interdependencies of projects)
  • Ensure industry best practice project management processes and tools are consistently used across the site including robust risk analysis
  • Identify project/program risks and communicate with key stakeholders to mitigate impact of risks to project completion.
  • Partner effectively with customers within the site and stakeholders in the network related to network strategy, PPM and technical transfers.
  • Support the development of the Strategic Business Plan for HTO
  • Ensure compliance with cGMPs and Corporate quality standards.  
  • Actively contribute to effective teamwork and quality decision-making.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required (engineering or science discipline preferred)
  • Graduate Degree or MBA is preferred
  • PMP Certification preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of industrial experience and at least 5 years of people management experience
  • Multidisciplinary GMP experience is preferred
  • Experience working in the biotech or pharma industry, with experience in drug product manufacturing/aseptic processing is preferred.

     

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

  • Experience in successfully leading complex capital projects
  • Experience in capital project governance, strategy and funding
  • Knowledge of network and site business developments, opportunities and challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and sustain creative output from a diverse technical staff.
  • Strategic thinker able to translate strategies into actionable plans
  • Outstanding ability to develop effective cross-functional relationships, influence, solve problems and resolve conflicts in a proactive and constructive manner
  • An independent self-starter with the ability to resolve business challenges and implement improvements
  • Experience leading change initiatives on a local or global level. Familiarity with industry change management techniques
  • Successful demonstration of goal setting, delivering results, quality decision-making, developing others and building/leading high-performing teams and engaged staff
