The Position

Responsibilities:

A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Early Discovery Biochemistry to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying complex biology. Active areas of research include structure-function studies of protein complexes involved in cellular signaling pathways and how various post-translational modifications (e.g. ubiquitination, phosphorylation) regulate these pathways. Specific projects are ongoing in the areas of cancer biology, innate immunity and infectious disease. This position provides an opportunity to learn/apply a variety of biochemical and biophysical techniques, as well as, potential structure determination utilizing our state-of-the-art cryoEM facility. [Specifically, the facility includes two screening microscopes, Talos 200C and Glacios (to be installed in late 2019), equipped with Gatan K2 Direct Detectors, one Titan Krios with a K2 Bioquantum Direct Detector and a Titan Krios G3 (to be installed in 2020) equipped with Gatan K3 Bioquantum—plus ancillary sample preparation and vitrification equipment].

Who You Are:

Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology or related discipline. Successful candidates will be highly motivated to work independently on projects with significant biological relevance in a very collaborative, multidisciplinary group. Candidates should have a strong background in protein chemistry, biophysical methods and molecular biology as evidenced by a first author paper published or accepted in a peer-reviewed journal. Strong problem solving, communication and organizational skills are highly desirable.
