The main focus of this position will be the application of structural biology methods for studying the structures of proteins and protein/protein or protein/ligand complexes of therapeutic interest. The primary method used will be NMR spectroscopy, but the role may involve the application of X-ray crystallography and or cryo-EM, as well as other biophysical methods. The protein NMR facilities include dedicated 800, 600, and 500 MHz spectrometers, Linux workstations, and fully equipped protein expression and purification labs. The NMR facility complements protein engineering, protein crystallography, cryo-EM and modeling efforts within the Early Discovery Biochemistry and Structural Biology Departments. Highly motivated researchers, capable of independent work in a collaborative environment are sought for this position.
Who You Are
Applicants should have a Ph.D., at least one first author paper in a reputable journal and extensive practical experience. The applicant must also be familiar with the principles and practice of protein NMR spectroscopy and protein structure determination. Molecular biology and protein chemistry expertise is required. Experience with, or an ability and willingness to learn and apply X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM methods is highly advantageous.
