The  Principal Technical Product Specialist will have the responsibility for design and development of solutions for collaboration and Analysis of data in the cloud and overall management of Roche Advanced Analytics Dream challenges. This role will be part of the Pharma PHC IX/Technology Team that provides global technology solutions to enable the Pharma PHC Vision and Strategy. The Principal Technical Product Specialist will partner with stakeholders in multiple groups to design, develop and operate the PHC collaboration and challenges Infrastructure for Roche/Genentech’s current and future PHC needs.

You must be an effective negotiator, leader and communicator in working with Roche/Genentech’s IT cross-functional teams as well as other stakeholders and vendors. As Principal Technical Product Specialist  in PHC Pharma IX/Technology team, you will:

  • Partner closely with key stakeholders from PHC Center of Excellence and corresponding Pharma IT Groups and business stakeholders to design and implement technical Infrastructure solutions for collaboration and challenges platform

  • Be able to source and identify emerging technology trends from multiple internal and external sources and assess relevance. Translate and implement trends into short-term and long term technical capabilities.

  • Influence senior leaders and stakeholders in PHC IX and across Roche and communicate PHC Technology vision, strategy, goals, status, and impact.

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies (AI, Automation, Data Management, Visualization, API’s, Container Services, Cloud etc.) and trends with a clear focus on productivity, ease of use and fit-for-purpose.

  • Lead the evaluation and selection of technology and product standards, and the design of standard configurations/implementation patterns

  • Transform business requirements into solution capabilities and map those capabilities to various vendor and internal technology platforms to inform architecture and solution design.

  • Work with business, development/engineering & infrastructure teams to architect, design, prototype, develop the application platform and ensure product deliverables meet expectations.

  • Work  with IT Quality, IT Security and Governance other Business partners to ensure that the application infrastructure is designed to comply with pharmaceutical regulations and GxP requirements.

  • Work with highly cross-functional teams to rollout the challanges and collaboration platform into various business groups and cross functional team.

  • Design and develop Application Infrastructure that is resilient, scalable, high performing to handle peak workloads

  • Provide guidance to Operations to meet and exceed Service Level Agreements including collecting and responding to customer feedback to ensure continuous improvement and business growth.

  • Implement processes and solutions to manage and control cost of operating the platform in Cloud Environments  

  • Partner with other architects and solution owners to create standards and set strategies for the enterprise.


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with experience in Information Systems related field

  • 10-15 years of Experience in engineering and realization of large scale end-to-end solutions from Inception to project closure

  • Ability to innovate new and improved technology solutions with remarkable impact on company productivity.

  • 5+ years of active involvement in design and deployment of Collaboration and knowledge sharing platforms and environments in public cloud.

  • Proven experience with Services and products available from various cloud providers  and partners e.g. databases, Visualization, data management, container technologies, docker, Kubernetes, GIT, R Shiny applications etc. and ability to propose fit-for-purpose services to meet requirements

  • Process and load diverse datasets using Collaboration platform and cloud computing.

  • Prototype and test new services for different data modalities using Collaboration platform, including visualization, documentation, computation, etc.

  • Strong background in DevOps, automation and agile methodologies

  • Experience with data curation, management, and collaboration across research groups.

  • Hands-on experience in designing infrastructure as Code, building  DevOps pipelines and automation using CI/CD toolsets such as GIT, BitBucket, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform etc.

  • Strong understanding of the application landscapes used in Research  environments such as as Imaging Solutions, Advanced Analytics Tools, Data Lakes,  Landing Zones including High speed Data Ingestion from Internal and external data sources

  • Strong understanding of Regulatory and GxP requirements for working in Healthcare sector including HIPAA, GDPR,  HITRUST, ISO-27001 etc.

  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and presentation skills; solid business acumen; well-honed influencing skills are essential

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and to build a strong network and relationships (internally and externally) up to the executive levels across IT functions and the business.
