The Position

Location: Oceanside, CA

*This position is not eligible for relocation

Manage the daily activities for Oceanside and other affiliate site Infrastructure and Deskside support teams responsible for developing, delivering and supporting IT solutions for the business and customers.  Individuals responsible for activities that contribute to planning, creating and implementing an IT vision and strategy aligned with the company’s strategic business plan.  They oversee the development and implementation of corporate standards, technology architecture, technology evaluation and transfer.  Provides technical and business leadership to their Pharma Informatics as well as to the Vacaville business organizations.

Pharma Informatics leaders are also responsible for analyzing trends in technology, assessing the impact of emerging technologies on the business, providing solutions to address technology and business issues, and managing financial resources of the company while ensuring the development of high-quality people.  These solutions must be developed at the best possible cost and be aligned with customer and business needs while establishing relationships with employees and key internal and external stakeholders.  Also responsible for participating in and leading the development of an IT governance framework that defines the working relationships and sharing of IT components among various IT groups within the company.

To be successful, individuals must possess a combination of business, technical and leadership skills.  This requires an understanding of customers’ business needs, processes and functions.  They also need a solid knowledge of IT infrastructure, architecture, applications development and support, networks and computer operations.  In addition, individuals must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to influence others.  They must also be able to quickly assess the impact of technical issues on the business and make decisions appropriately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interview, select, hire, train, supervise, coach, develop and evaluate the performance of individual contributors 
  • Work with peers across the Pharma Informatics organization to ensure high quality solutions are defined, developed and deployed using consistent technologies and processes.
  • Work with staff to define annual goals, evaluate performance, and prepare career development plans.
  • Work with customer groups to determine and meet specific IT needs.
  • Performs other managerial tasks as required.


  • BA or BS degree
  • 4-5 years in a supervisory role with proven ability to effectively manage IT professionals with a wide range of skills and experience.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance several tasks, organize time efficiently, follow through on projects to completion.
  • Must have exceptional customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Monitor service and support metrics demonstrating continuous improvements of associated processes.
  • Must have an exceptional team orientation
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with a demonstrated focus on customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and learn technologies quickly.
  • Participate in defining, measuring, and ensuring results for business unit objectives, timelines, budgets, and human resources matters.
  • Participate in the management of vendors and contractors.
  • Frequent interaction with director level management within and outside of IT, consultants, sales representatives, leadership team and portfolio managers.
  • Knows formal ITIL and GMP process methodology.
  • Ensure local Pharma Informatics resources adhere to local access and regulatory requirements at the assigned sites.
  • Excellent ability to interact, communicate and influence within multiple levels of the organization.
  • Must be highly accountable and results oriented.  Persistence, resourcefulness, drive and ability to work proactively.
  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Enthusiastic, outgoing team leader with a passion for continuous self-improvement.
  • Communicate complex information, issues and recommendations to customers, and Pharma Informatics leadership.
  • Ability to speak the ‘language’ of the Manufacturing, Quality and Facilities organizations.
  • Foster an environment of collaboration in pursuit of common goals.
  • Work with business organizations to understand the key operating issues and players at the Vacaville and Dixon sites.
  • Contribute to business planning and budgeting process.  Acts as a member of the Site Materials Management Leadership Team.
  • Effectively prepare and manage a budget.
  • Experience supporting audit and inspection activities that may include interview participation, process documentation, problem analysis, etc.
  • Typically requires 7 years of relevant technical and business experience in a senior or team lead position
