The Position

Start Date: Summer 2020

Work Hours: 40 hours per week 

Location: South San Francisco Campus

Length of Assignment: 3 months 

Education Level:  A M.S. or Ph.D. candidate in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering, Biostatistics, or related discipline. Modeling/Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence experience is required.


Our mission is to enable selection of a safe and effective dose, route and regimen for small molecules and biologics by applying the principles of quantitative pharmacology throughout a molecule’s life-cycle.  There are multiple internship positions in our department.

We are seeking interns who are driven to use Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) approaches to understand the Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of novel drug candidates. This individual will use ML/AI tools to enhance quantitative decision making. The activities include ML/AI platform development and deployment, as well as their applications on longitudinal clinical data.


Candidates should have solid expertise in Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence. Rich hands-on experience with the languages R and/or Python, as well as familiarity with commonly used ML toolsets. The candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and effectively in teams.
