The Position

Summary:

Partners with HR and leaders in the organization to facilitate large-scale, systemic change. Analyses the organization systemically, considering organization strategy, culture, leadership, capabilities, structures, processes, and systems to determine appropriate interventions to drive change. Key activities typically include the design and facilitation of leadership and extended leadership events, overall change project planning and implementation, consultation on effective communication and change management methodologies, individual coaching for leaders, and the development and/or implementation of required training strategies. The scope of large-scale change projects could be across the global organization, or within a division, affiliate, or function.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partnership and Collaboration: Proactively partner with HR business partners, other HR CoEs, and relevant client stakeholders throughout OD process to ensure Executive Talent Development Strategy, Plans and Initiatives are in place and measured.  Partner in cross-business unit or cross-enterprise teams.  Partnerships can take place at the individual, team or organization level and advisement or coaching on the change will happens at all three levels and in collaboration with others in the business.  Individual collaboration may include partnering with client leader or HRD/BP and serving as shadow consultant or coach to HRD/BPs, as invited.  Partners with the HRD/BP to support the implementation of a complex change roadmap throughout various levels of the line business.
  • Consultation: Provide assessment, diagnosis, facilitation, and analysis to arrive at comprehensive action plans for the organization that supports systemic change and performance improvement across the value chain. Advise and consult to implement the solutions and measure results of the effort.  
  • Action Planning: Support clients in action planning for discovered and identified opportunities that are meaningful, business results oriented and clear.
  • Implementation:  Deliver actions, as needed, or support delivery including identification of vendors for delivery, as warranted.
  • Department, enterprise, and global contributions: Collaborate with L&OD staff to build integrated Learning and Organizational Development strategies and goals for Genentech.  Contribute to enterprise and global initiatives/interventions, as assigned, to expand networks, continue learning, and improve business acumen.

Requirements:

Education

  • Advanced degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Psychology or Business Management strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree preferred

Business Experience

  • 10+ years of related consulting and organization change experience in 3 or more of the following:
    • Organizational Change Assessment, Strategy and Planning, Organization Design, Development, Effectiveness
    • Performance Management, Leadership Development and Culture Transformation, Knowledge Management,
    • Communication Strategy and Planning, Instructional Systems Design and Implementation, and Competency Profiling, Assessment, and Analysis
  • Knowledge of or experience in the following industry solution sets is preferred
    • Technology Assimilation
    • Operations Management
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Product Development
    • Mergers, Alliances, and Acquisitions
    • Process Re-engineering
    • Managing Collaborations
  • Proven ability to build and lead project teams and manage successfully complex, cross-functional and global projects
  • Strong functional understanding of Human Resources and its different components
  • Strong change management experience

  • Demonstrated strong quantitative orientation
  • Excellent facilitation skills, consulting and coaching skills, strong process orientation and skills effective communication.
  • Interpersonal skills, strong influence skills, excellent skills in working with senior executives, diverse, cross-functional groups of people.  Ability to influence without authority.
  • Ability to coalesce professionals around a vision, establish a roadmap and execute based on this road map
  • Excellent partnering skills, working collaboratively with others, building bridges between organizations, stakeholders or external vendors.  Exceptional project management skills
  • Exceptional problem solving ability, using creativity and innovation, and intellectual agility using strong conceptual abilities and ending in demonstrated implementation and execution ability.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in building team effectiveness, knowledgeable and skilled with change processes in complex systems, knowledge of and experience in large-scale change, systems knowledge integrated systems focus, business knowledge. 
  • Skilled at conflict resolution, creating agreements for working together and understanding of group dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to adapt to audiences and engage participants 
  • Business travel required (10% to 20%)
