The Position

Start Date: Summer 2020

Work Hours: 40 hours per week 

Location: South San Francisco Campus

Length of Assignment: 3 months 

Education Level: Bachelor of Science (Sophomore Level or Higher, or Recent Grad), OR Master of Science (1st or 2nd Year or recent grad), OR PhD Student (pursuing PhD, not completed)

Department Overview: The mission of the Biomolecular Resources department is to provide high quality DNA and protein reagents in support of research and drug discovery. Working as integrated members of multi-disciplinary teams as well as members of a core facility, we design, construct, and manage reagents required for protein expression, protein purification, and cell-based assays.

Intern Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding in various machine learning models, including theory, technique, and implementation in applications (required)
  • Proficiency in Python (required)
  • Experience in database querying: Oracle, MongoDB (preferred)
  • Self-starter, detail oriented, able to work both independently and collaboratively

Intern Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop algorithms using machine learning
  • Perform prototyping, application tests and code optimization to ensure product excellence
  • Collaborate with our scientists to understand workflows and collect requirements
  • Collaborate with our software engineers to integrate solutions into software application
