The Position

We have an opening for a talented Scientific Researcher (SR)/Senior Scientific Researcher (SSR) to join the Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology Department in our South San Francisco location. The successful candidate will be participating in biologics drug discovery projects in the disease therapeutic areas of Immunology and Cancer Immunology. More specifically, the individual will independently develop, validate and execute medium and high-throughput biochemical and cell-based functional assays to identify and characterize drug candidate molecules. Functioning as a member of multi-disciplinary project team, the individual will be expected to conduct assays to interrogate drug candidate with respect to its in vitro potency/efficacy, pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamics properties and immunogenicity. The candidate will have the opportunity to conduct detailed data analyses and will present these data to project teams. In addition, the individual will be expected to incorporate lab automation into his/her workflow and harness novel technologies in assay development.


  • BS or MS degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Immunology or a closely related field.
  • At least two years (SR) or 6 years (SSR) of hands-on experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical research setting. For SSR, working experience in the Immunology field is preferred.
  • Proven expertise in protein based and cell based functional assay is essential.
  • Proven expertise in primary immune cell isolation/in vitro cell culture, multi-color flow cytometry or high content imaging analysis is essential.
  • Broad understanding in molecular biology, protein-protein interaction, cellular signaling, gene/protein expression analysis.
  • Experience with commonly used qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods and software tools.  
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Clear oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong collaborative skills and enjoy working in multi-disciplinary project team environment
