The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join the Department of Preclinical and Translational Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics at Genentech. The postdoctoral candidate will investigate structure-activity relationships governing the target independent tissue distribution of antibody therapeutics. The group utilizes a multidisciplinary approach encompassing methods such as bioconjugate chemistry, fluorescence microscopy and whole-body SPECT imaging. Projects will focus on characterizing target independent uptake of antibodies – both quantitatively at the tissue/organ level and qualitatively at the cellular and subcellular level. The individual will work independently in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with experts in imaging, protein chemistry and pharmacology to apply these findings in improving therapeutic indices for targeted drug therapies and to publish findings in top tier scientific journals. Proficiency fluorescence microscopy, conjugation chemistry and/or radiometric tissue analysis is strongly preferred.

Requirements:

Applicants must have a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Cell Biology, Chemical Biology, Molecular Imaging, or related discipline and a proven record of productivity in their graduate career as demonstrated by first-author publications.

Additional Recommended Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in bioconjugate chemistry and/or radiochemistry

  • Experience with molecular (e.g. PET/SPECT) imaging

  • Experience with fluorescence microscopy

  • Experience with tissue culture, cell-based assays is a plus

  • Strong analytical, collaborative, communication and organizational skills
