The Position

We seek a postdoctoral fellow to join the Rock laboratory in the Immunology Department of Genentech. They will study regenerative mechanisms of the airways and lung, including stem/progenitor cell identity and the mechanisms by which acute and chronic stimuli modulate cell state/fate. This knowledge will inform efforts to promote regeneration of normal tissue at the expense of pathological remodeling through immunomodulation, cell reprogramming and gene or cell therapy.

Genentech has a proud tradition of world-class basic and translational research and the postdoctoral program here allows for important questions about fundamental biological mechanisms to be addressed independently of drug development programs. The large clinical trials conducted by the Roche group gives us unprecedented access to highly clinically characterized patients with matching data on treatment outcome, genetic variants, and disease state. A postdoc will be able to leverage these resources and study biological pathways of interest aided by world-class scientific infrastructure, and also gain exposure to the drug development process.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a recent or pending PhD graduate with a background in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology or related discipline. They will have demonstrated the ability to conduct high-quality, impactful research through peer-reviewed publication.
