The Workplace Integration Partner reports to the gRED Workplace Integration Partner, within
the Real Estate and Workplace Effectiveness (RE & WE) organization. The Workplace
Integration team consults with the Workplace Strategy Partners to all areas of
Genentech’s business to accelerate their business through progressive work practices.
This role is a key driver in designing and creating innovative work environment solutions
that integrate a network of places and spaces, technology, and behaviors to make great
work possible at Genentech. This position will focus on:
Understanding how business groups work across Genentech and within the Roche Network to support diverse work styles and ensure team effectiveness
Strategizing with key workplace thought partners in People & Culture (P+C), Site Services, Pharma Informatics to deliver innovative work environment solutions
Guiding the business in adopting new types of spaces, technology and behaviors to work more effectively in a mix of work settings
Continuously researching, prototyping and evolving work environments to support business transformations and anticipate the workplace needs of the future for the business
The Workplace Integration Partner is a trusted consultant and advisor to the Workplace Strategy Partner applying the Strategic Choice Framework to design and execute workplace solutions that support individuals and teams to adopt new ways of working, and also ensures they can be effective in working more flexibly, collaboratively and with a stronger sense of community in their work environments.
As a primary integrator and driver of a RE & WE project, this role must take a lean consulting approach and have program/project management, design and construction knowledge, and change management capabilities that can be flexed to support employees in all work environments, including lab, manufacturing, and office, so that the business can make the greatest impact for patients and society.

Project Responsibilities:
Business & Organizational Understanding
Demonstrates awareness and understanding of core Genentech business, Pharma Operating Principles, Pharma Vision, and Employee Promise
Applies knowledge of organization and workplace effectiveness (the combination of behaviors, technology and the physical spaces/places to help people work effectively), change and project management, and other program delivery methodologies to add value to the project delivery, connect across projects, and participate in the evaluation and improvement of the built environment to support new ways of working across the organization
Project Design + Scoping
Consults with senior business leaders and Workplace Strategy partner to understand desired business outcomes and partner across WE and Site Services to develop a strategy for projects that meet scope, planning, budget and deliverables
Partners with D&C PM and Workplace Systems and Analytics to define the project scope and success measures, effectively manage risks, resolve conflicts, and negotiate tradeoffs to meet budget and schedule targets, and ensure project closeout enables transition to business as
usual
Leverages program management, change management, organization development, and tech readiness in designing fit-for-purpose workplace solutions
Program Management
Act as a strategic consultant to lead the integration of behaviors in how people work, the use of technology, and the physical work environment design on projects in all work environments, and serve a primary leader and integrator of client core teams and advocate teams.
Manage and lead work streams for project delivery process, coordinate support with cross-functional partners, including in Site Services (Design & Construction, Facilities & Operations Maintenance), People & Culture, and Pharma Informatics.
Present project updates, funding requests and solutions to key stakeholders and senior leaders, and ensure client satisfaction with project consultation and overall work environment design.
Coaching/Consulting
Coach and advise senior leaders (primarily Executive Directors and VPs) who act as sponsors and client leaders on all projects
Set overarching project and change strategy, including methods of engagement that ensure effective transitions to new ways of working
Program Pillar Lead + Product Owner Responsibilities:
This position will have responsibility for a program pillar or product area to ensure continuous innovation and operational excellence.
A Program Lead is responsible for one of the three pillars (defined as Places, Technology, and Behaviors - how people work) and will develop the prototyping strategies to continuously improve RE & WE’s services/offerings. They will also partner with key stakeholders and partners to maintain the Pattern Book, Toolkits/Websites, and Design Guidelines, and communicate and
rollout tools and resources to all Genentech users
A Product Owner will have responsibility for a product/service area(s), which will be prioritized regularly based on WE strategies and client business needs. Areas could include: working flexibly, distributed team effectiveness, lab work practices, and hybrid workplaces
Evolve the strategy, toolkits, and processes in partnership with other program managers for their respective product area. Serve as a consulting resource to the Workplace Integration Director and Executive Director of Real Estate and Workplace Effectiveness on topics related to their product area.
Bring leading, innovative work practices and design that are a fit with the Genentech culture. Integrate best practices and continuous learning across projects across the Roche Network as a Center of Excellence, particularly in their program area.
Capture lessons learned and emerging trends to evolve the strategy, toolkits, and processes in their respective pillar/product area. Serve as a consulting resource to the Head of Workplace Integration and Executive Director, Real Estate and Workplace Effectiveness on topics related to their program area.
Partner Alignment & Key Relationships:
This position will be assigned specific partners in Real Estate and Workplace Effectiveness, specifically Workplace Strategy, and corporate groups (i.e., , Pharma Informatics, People & Culture) to cover all business units so that they can operate at senior levels across Genentech to actively set and manage partner and stakeholder expectations; assignments may rotate depending on Real Estate and Workplace Effectiveness strategies, client business need, and pipeline demand
Be responsible for cultivating and managing trusted relationships with key partners and stakeholders so that we can be effective integrators and better support client’s desired outcomes, culture, and work practices.
Develops, maintains and leverages extensive purposeful networks and builds trust with people in the business so that we can develop user insights,understand stakeholder concerns, and reduce project initiation time, ultimately delivering with greater speed and client satisfaction.
While this role will have a primary business unit alignment, there is an expectation that rotations with other business units will happen and work load balancing will happen across the Strategy and Integration Partners.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
Education: BS/BA/BArch in Social or Physical Sciences (i.e. Architecture, Design, Engineering, Psychology, Organization Development, Change Management), Computer Science, or Business or 12+ years relevant “on the job” experience advising and/or consulting in mid-size or larger biomedical or high tech organizations, ideally in real estate, workplace effectiveness, IT, or design and construction of innovative work environment solutions. Masters, MArch, or MBA preferred
Experience leading large scale change implementation projects, ideally changes from traditional to more flexible, collaborative work environments. Experience managing projects with both commercial and scientific populations—as well as office and lab-based employees. Skilled at:

Ideal candidate is a seasoned program manager or strategic consultant with experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex design & construction projects in a variety of work environment types (i.e. labs, office, teaming/specialty spaces)
Knowledge and experience in patterns and evolution of workplace design, ways people work, and technology choices as it relates to collaboration and future of work on distributed or hybrid teams. Facile in using and promoting technology to facilitate team collaboration and asynchronous work practices.
Able to influence and gain credibility quickly at both the senior leader level and within the organization. Gifted relationship builder, including with peers. Anticipates human behavior and can navigate with organizational savvy, particularly where there may be sensitivity about ownership or preference to abdicate responsibility.
