The Position

We are seeking a Scientific Researcher / Senior Scientific Researcher to join the Small Molecule Pharmaceutics (SMP) group in the Small Molecule Pharmaceutical Sciences (SMPS) organization in Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED). SMPS is responsible for the pharmaceutical development of gRED small molecule drug candidates. The candidate will work closely with scientists to design and develop drug products for clinical studies, including formulation and process development studies. The candidate will independently execute the studies, conduct data analysis using mathematical and/or statistical tools as needed, and interpret/present data to help make decisions that enable project progression. The candidate will perform bench and pilot-scale manufacturing unit operations, as needed, such as blending, milling, roller compaction, wet granulation, fluid- bed drying, capsule filling, and tablet compression and film coating. The candidate will also perform testing on powders and compacts, such as particle size, flowability, density, tablet mechanical strength, disintegration, as well as come up with and implement novel testing methods, as needed. The candidate will regularly utilize isolator technology to handle potent compounds and potentially hazardous materials, and must adhere to existing procedures and safety guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • A BS degree in pharmaceutics, materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or relevant fields with no less than 3 years of experience, or an MS degree with no less than 1 year of experience in solid dosage form development is required.
  • The candidate must be familiar with key scientific disciplines and technologies involved in solid dosage formulation development, and demonstrate good overall understanding in pharmaceutics and drug development.
  • Experience in solid dosage form development and characterization is required.
