TEAM AND POSITION OVERVIEW

This individual will lead a team of marketers, providing consistent feedback and coaching to drive marketing strategy and execution excellence, as well as ensure professional development of a team of ICs.  Additionally, this individual will be responsible for owning a significant business deliverable, ensuring efficient and appropriate investment to drive topline results and supporting attainment of respiratory P&L goals.    He/she will be required to effectively collaborate and partner with our Novartis colleagues to unlock the power of the partnership across the alliance.  This position reports to the Senior Marketing Director, Respiratory.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Accountable for meeting long-term (5 year) and short-term (90-day) Squad priorities and marketing strategic goals for Xolair in Asthma and CIU, and Esbriet in IPF 
  • Responsible for the day-to-day alignment, enablement, project coaching and oversight of 4 or more Senior/Marketing Managers.
  • Reports to the Marketing Senior Director and serves as a member of the Marketing Leadership Team
  • Develops and executes Xolair and Esbriet value proposition and the end-to end customer experience
  • Partners with the Field organization and other CMG functions to develop a comprehensive strategic business plan that drives Squad priorities
  • Responsible for managing investment decisions to ensure profitability of brand while also maximizing resources across the business with an enterprise mindset
  • Leads and/or participates in fit for purpose and flexibly deployed work teams across the CMG network based on their areas of expertise
  • Coaches and advises Marketing Managers on the responsibilities below:
    • Analyze and assess research to extrapolate meaning and opportunities that drives the product’s overall market strength and positioning
    • Identify and work regularly with appropriate internal and external resources to support product marketing strategies and activities
    • Ensures high quality tactical execution and a seamless, well integrated brand message and overall position across multiple marketing platforms.
    • Creates strategy, messaging and resources for the CE organization.  Partners with the field teams to establish and monitor metrics for tactical roll out of marketing activities.
    • Plays a leadership role in the Promotional Review Committee (PRC) to ensure development of compliant and effective promotional tactics and effective pull-through of these tactics. Partners closely with Legal and Regulatory organizations

Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrates a minimum of Advanced Level capabilities across the marketing capabilities framework (Customer, Product and Market Insights, Financial Acumen, Value Creation, Business Strategy, Customer Experience, Market Execution, Account Marketing and Partnerships)
  • Demonstrates expertise in all aspects of Product Marketing to include positioning, branding, campaign development, channel mix and in healthcare ecosystem
  • Deep knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem including health
  • economics, policy and the regulatory environment
  • Deep knowledge of each customer type e.g. HCPs, patients, payers, IDNs, distributors, pathways and how they run their business
  • Ability to think with an enterprise mindset
  • Ability to influence and inspire individuals and teams across the CMG
  • network, from front-line employees to the executive level
  • Breadth of experience in product/therapeutic area, access and interactive marketing
  • Ability to flex and thrive in an ambiguous environment undergoing transformational change
  • Ability to translate strategic direction into action plan for self and team, and make progress in the face of ambiguity
  • Good judgment in recognizing the distinction between "good enough" and perfection

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years experience with the majority working in a product marketing function
  • Experience in creating marketing strategies, plans and tactics that have strengthened market positioning along with financial results
  • Market Access experience (preferably payer strategy/tactics, and acquisition programs)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Bachelors degree in Marketing preferred
  • MBA or other related graduate level degree preferred
