We are looking for a highly motivated data architect to provide leadership and own the blueprint for PIxSA (Provider Insights Software Applications) data management and analytics. The applications in the PIxSA’s portfolio consist of regulated, non-regulated, clinical and commercial products with the potential to reach a +1M-user base.
This is a key leadership role for someone who has lived in the data world both cloud and on-prem and has profound experience with healthcare interoperability. Experience with design, development, integration, implementation, and migration of healthcare products and solutions is required. The ideal candidate should have a point of view and speak to data architectures with authority and back it up with detailed technical knowledge and experience.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Analyze and propose architectures for data related projects, data and analytics platform management and well as data interoperability across Roche’s internal and external entities and applications
Lead the design of interoperable healthcare data repositories with focus on security and HIPAA, PCI, or GDPR compliance
Secure data and analytic assets: Aid in the analysis of data and analytics security requirements and solutions. Work with the cybersecurity and data privacy team to ensure that enterprise data and analytics assets are treated as protected assets
Create information solutions covering data security, data privacy, data governance, metadata management, multi-tenancy and mixed workload management
Ensure data architecture consistency across PIxSA’s portfolio of applications
Mentor junior developers and champion the adoption of the proposed technologies
Prototype solutions to validate ideas, design assumptions and other aspects of a product

Moreover you bring:
B.Sc. in information technology, computer science or a related field - M.Sc. preferred
8+ years of industry experience: proven work experience as a Data Architect, Data Engineer or similar role with progressively increasing responsibility
Profound knowledge of healthcare standards (such as HL7's Version 2.x messaging standard), interoperability (e.g. FHIR)
5+ years of in-depth experience with No-SQL (e.g. MongoDB, HBase, Cassandra, Couchbase) and SQL design and principles
5+ years of demonstrated ability in designing, developing, and documenting the processing of healthcare data at scale
Solid (ideally certified) knowledge of the AWS ecosystem and experience with one or more of the following AWS products: S3, EC2, EMR, Redshift
Hands-on experience with operationalizing Big Data applications (e.g. administration, configuration management, monitoring, debugging, and performance tuning)
Practical experience with Java or Python with expertise in at least one, and familiarity with reactive programming
Understanding across Cloud and infrastructure components (server, storage, network, data, and applications)
Expertise in understanding data relationships and can design data models that reflects these relationships and facilitates efficient ingestion, processing and consumption of data
Ability to communicate, influence and persuade peers and leadership.
Capacity to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations
Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies and eagerness to work in a fast-paced agile development environment
Knowledge of healthcare data standards, regulations, privacy and security implications in a regulated industry
Ability to be hands-on to develop working prototypes
Superb communication skills and ability to both translate functional requirements into technical specifications and influence non-technical stakeholders
Nice to haves:
Previous experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry or for a top software consultancy
Holding the AWS Solution Architect Associate certificate is a clear asset
Project management experience
