Sr. Principal/Principal Portfolio Manager-US Commercial, Medical Affairs, Government Affairs Informatics Job Level: E5/E5A The Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing the portfolio of projects necessary for the effective and efficient implementation of large and complex programs/projects through all phases of the Project Management Life cycle which includes – initiation, planning, development, execution, control & closeout of projects.The Portfolio Manager will support US Commercial, Medical Affairs and Government Affairs Informatics. This role is accountable for governance, planning, and communication processes that allow for deep collaboration and coordination within CMG IT, across IT Americas and our business partners that will result in planned predictable performance of implementation projects with positive impact on the business. Job Responsibilities: - Make broader and more complex project or program decisions across multiple areas in consultation with customers - Evaluate tradeoffs and make appropriate decisions on a wider scale - Provide options and recommendations to senior executives - Define, plan, direct the establishment & execution of a broad range of medium to complex technical programs/projects, while balancing the competing demands of scope, time, cost, quality, resources and risk - Facilitate project/program management activities across the entire project management methodology - Formulate risk mitigation strategies and recommend solutions; Conduct risk management planning, identification, analysis and monitoring on projects - Provides guidance and mentorship to employee and consultant project managers with extensive experience in directly managing complex projects or programs. - Forms strong relationships and work collaboratively with multiple areas across the enterprise. Act as advisor to management and customers on program or portfolio matters. - Present complex information, issues and potential solutions to the senior IT management, senior customer management, and executive teams. - Create collaborative partnerships, with customers, vendors and other Roche teams to achieve project objectives. Ensure project objectives/requirements are clear and agreed to by all stakeholders - Participates in the strategy, planning, and execution by directing and coordinating program and project activities. This includes working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that program and project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives. - Establish appropriate levels of project/program governance which may include steering/governance committee, PMO, etc. Establish and maintain effective communication for assigned projects and with dependent projects - Suggest improvements where necessary / appropriate to improve operational efficiencies - Identify and apply systematic quality activities to ensure that projects employ all processes needed to meet Computer System Validation directives - Manage the processes required to ensure timely and appropriate generation, collection, distribution, storage, retrieval, and ultimate disposition of project information and documentation necessary for successful communications across all stakeholders and any required updates to living system documents for validated systems - Acts as the people manager for the PMO team (performance planning, development planning, performance reviews, salary, bonus, and stock administration, career planning) This position is not eligible for relocation.
