The Position

Purpose: 


The Finance Manager (Customer Facing) position resides in theControlling & Financial Analysis (CFA) group within Commercial Finance andplays a key role in the direct support of the Commercial organization. The FinanceManager (FM) supports the Brand or Functional teams with the following: (a) managesfinancial month-end close activities, (b) manages and presents monthly reportingand variance analysis compared to budget and forecast, (c) supports businessplanning deliverables including annual tactical plans/budgets, quarterly forecasts,3-year brand plans, long-term Business Plans, and Financial Activity Cost Tracking(FACT), (d) builds trusted relationships with Commercial Finance DecisionSupport team and key business stakeholders through insights from financial dataanalyses, including FACT resource allocation/trade-off scenario analysis, (e) strategicprojects and ad hoc analysis, (f) maintains internal controls and compliancearound key financial expense activities, and (g) reviews and implements CFAprocess improvement initiatives.


Responsibilities:

  • Diligently build and maintain effective businesspartnerships between commercial stakeholders and Commercial Finance DecisionSupport through close collaboration and regular meetings
  • Manage month-end close activities by reviewing andapproving, journal entries, recodes, account reconciliations. Maintaincompliance with internal controls and processes to enable VP’ssub-certification of financial results
  • Review and present insightful financial updates and varianceanalysis to key business stakeholders in order to enable transparency intofinancial performance and drivers. Support trade-off decisions due to strategychanges
  • Stay abreast and communicate/educate our business partnerson all financial processes, accounting policies, and Healthcare Compliancepolicies relevant to marketing activities to ensure adherence and compliance(including contract payment terms, marketing expense recognition policies,approval hierarchy policy, controls around contracts/PO approvals, properaccruals)
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on audit support, reportingto external collaboration partners, Front Line Managers training, FRRs(Financial Responsibility Reporting) support, gFRS (Genentech Funding Request System),and Contracts reviews and approvals
  • Have strong command over all relevant financial systems,tools, data sets and reports, and reporting capabilities of databases
  • Review and implement process improvement initiatives thatalign with group and departmental goals, and takes lead role in those processimprovement projects
  • Take on the “peer advisor” role to onboard/train new hireswithin Customer Facing
  • Take on the “mentor” role to the Internal Support team
  • Provide ad hoc analysis on strategic projects and present tosenior management (e.g., Field Sales Promo Meals and Speaker Program, CateringSpend, Waste Watcher, and Sunshine Act Reporting)

Who you are:

  • Self-starter with impeccable ethics and integrity, proven communication skills - verbal and written, with a clear ability to effectively communicate amongst different levels of the organization
  • Must have strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Must have strong knowledge of Excel and familiarity with ERP systems (SAP and TM1 preferred), including use of Qlikview and BW financial reports
  • Proficiency in accounting concepts, internal controls framework, and financial statement analysis
  • Experience in preparing and delivering monthly financial presentations to senior management within Commercial and Finance
  • Demonstrated ability to work within tight deadlines and timelines, with proven experience in meeting goals on time
  • Track record in identifying process improvements and successfully implementing change
  • Excellent attention to detail paired with timeliness
  • Must have a BS/BA preferably in Business/Finance/Accounting and 8-11 years of biotech/pharma or related work experience
  • MBA and CPA license desirable
