The Position

The Genentech Early Clinical Development Operations organization is seeking a data scientist to provide predictive analytics support for effective data driven decision making. Primary responsibilities and accountabilities of this role include:

  • Collaborate with our internal network of advanced analytics professionals to enhance Early Clinical Development with the use of predictive analytics
  • Identify the right machine learning and/or statistical concepts to be applied to various business operations questions
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of multiple real world data assets and share information about these data to business partners and the Predictive Analytics team
  • Exercise independent judgment on analyses and analytics projects – driving to deliver strategic solutions
  • Drive requirements gathering for data visualizations and innovative analyses and ensure understanding of project objectives
  • Participate in the investigation, sourcing, and application of internal and external data sources
  • Use life science data assets to support the protocol development process by quantifying the size of and geographically identifying specific patient populations


Who You Are

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a closely related technical field
  • Hands-on research experience in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or statistics
  • Demonstrated implementation skills with one or more general purpose programming languages including: Scala, R, C/C++, Python, Matlab, etc.
  • Experience in collecting, analyzing and presenting data in innovative and consumable ways to support business questions and needs
